John and I went in to the doctor this morning for my last check up before Monday. We felt like we had everything ready to go and had accepted the fact that our baby would not be coming until the 23rd. I have been so sick with headaches etc for weeks but nothing new to report!
The doctor walked in to the room and told me that my blood pressure was up and I have a high protien count in my urine again...she said "lets go have a baby"...so then of course I kicked it into panic mode!
We ran home, tried to clean a little, got Ty to the Mitchell's...and we were off to the hospital...checking in by about 11:00am. I was already dilated to about a 4 so we didn't think that it would take to long.
It doesn't matter how many times you have done this...it is always a little bit scary!
John and I getting settled in bed!
After I was hooked up the waiting game began. I had a doctor come in a break my water about 2 hours later and then it was just a matter of time. We got the epideral pumping when I was dilated at about a 7...then it didn't work so we had some re-adjusting and upage of the medicine doses...it kicked right in time to push! I had terrible headaches the entire time but we worked through it.
We only had to push about 5 times and he was here! It was amazing...John is amazing. One of my favorite things about having a baby is watching the tears flow from such a big guy! He loves the new babies!
They got him cleaned up and we were able to snuggle him for just a bit!
We didn't get much time with him before they got to work on me. I was at risk for seisures, massive clotting and more with my blood pressure and headaches. After they took him and got us cleaned up they put me on 13 hours of Magnesium {Mag} and it is nasty stuff. I was only allowed to have my baby for short amounts of time because of the risk of seisures, I had a catheter for the entire time because I was not allowed to get out of bed and I could not leave Labor and Delivery to go into Recovery in case of an emergency. The first night was a long one.
Finally on Wednesday I was able to have my catheter removed, have the Mag IV turned off and was able to get around. I still had to stay in L & D to be monitered and I was scheduled for an MRI that morning. The MRI scan was for the massive headaches that I have been having...they were clear which was a relief.
Once I got into recovery it was a much easier ride!
We are so excited that baby Ollie is here and we LOVE him so much already!
More to come....
